AddXP makes Windows® XP themes and skins available to many legacy programs. You probably greatly appreciate the new Windows® XP look and feel, but many of your older software may not support it. Now, by using AddXP, you can enable your legacy software to sport the new look and feel of Windows XP and enjoy the consistent view of all your programs (see results).  

The program consists of two Major features:
 

"Add XP style" which allows you to add the XP "Look and Feel" to, or remove them from a single program. All results can be logged for later viewing.

"Scan and add" which allows you to add XP themes to all programs within folders you specify.

 
 
The Add XP style section includes a log list in which the left side displays the name of the processed file, while to the right are displayed the results containing full descriptions of any problems which may have occurred during processing. In the upper right corner, are displayed a summary and a button which enables you to save the log as a text file. We recommended saving the log if you use the "Scan & Add" feature to scan multiple. It may very well assist in the troubleshooting of future problems.  
 
There are three buttons:  
 

Add XP style - adds XP visuals to a single file.

Remove XP style - removes XP style from a single file.

Stop scanning - interrupt the "Scan & Add" process

 
Two additional options are also available for processing:  
 

Start program with new look - After successfully enabling the XP "look and feel" the program will be immediately started to display the changes made.
NOTE: When using the "Scan & Add" mode, this feature is always disabled.

Save copy of original file - This will create a backup copy of the original program file with the extension: XP_BAK.EXE. If for some reason, the program fails to work with the modifications, it is always possible to restore the original file from this backup file. The "Remove XP style" button automatically restores the program from the backed up version.
NOTE: When using the "Scan & Add" mode, this feature is always enabled.

 
Scan and add allows the scanning of multiple folders. When a folder is marked, AddXP will search in this folder and any subfolders for programs which do not currently support XP themes and add the XP "look and feel" to them. To exclude any files from this process, simply unmark the file. The default scan will include typical folders but you can always add your own folders using the "Add folder" button. When ready, press the "Start" button to begin processing the marked folders. While the scan is proceeding, the "Add XP style" section will be displayed, so that you can view the progress in the log. If you wish to interrupt scanning at any time, simply use the "Stop scanning" button. The ability to scan folders is available only in the fully registered version of AddXP.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to enable XP styles for every type of program. For example, some programs will check themselves for modifications and prohibit any changes to be made to their program executable. Other programs may be packed, or protected with secured/unpublished algorithms, etc. AddXP will attempt to detect these types of programs but will not always be successful. If the program no longer works correctly after AddXP modifies it, you can simply restore it from the backup file. The backup file has the same name as original, but has the extension: XP_BAK.EXE. The "Remove XP style" button will restore the original file from the backup version automatically, but you can rename it yourself in Explorer if you wish.
Please do not delete the backup file before confirming that the modified program works correctly.
